US Bottled Water Sales Decline 6% Last Year

We knew the water bottlers were facing a decline – and a price war seems to be breaking out – but we finally found a hard number to go with the intuition:

For the year ended July 12, U.S. sales of bottled water fell 6 percent to $7.6 billion, according to market-research firm Information Resources Inc., whose figures don’t include sales from Wal-Mart Stores Inc., reports the Wall Street Journal.

Between the double whammy of a falling market and price competition, some of those new Nestle plants have got to be looking a little dicey (as do the jobs promised to small communities).
