Another Nestle Company in Trouble for Misleading Marketing Practices
Given Nestle’s checkered marketing history, you’d think the company would exercise a little caution when it comes to advertising – but then, maybe that’s not so much the goal.
Gerber (a Nestle company) has drawn heat from no less than a US Court of Appeals (which carries a wee bit more weight than some whiny blogger) for deceptive marketing practices:
The Gerber Products Company, owned by Nestle, has drawn harsh criticism from a U.S. Court of Appeals for using pictures of real fruit to market a gummi-bear-like candy formerly called “Fruit Juice Snacks.”
The Court said consumers would likely be deceived because the package depicts images of oranges, cherries and strawberries, though the leading ingredients are corn syrup and sugar.
I know this isn’t a bottled water issue, but as the TV lawyers are fond of saying, “it goes to credibility.”
Nestle, it appears, has less and less.
